STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ANXIETY IN BASIC SPOKEN ENGLISH

This study aimed to describe about the factors that caused students’ speaking anxiety and strategies reduce in basic spoken English class. The participants of were 18 students who took class first semester. method used this was descriptive qualitative. data obtained from interviews observation. findings revealed derived some provoked by both internal external matters. factor type task. task became something causes if asked present activities front second fear making mistakes. All felt same thing their anxious feeling when they made third role language teachers. It related how teachers create a classroom atmosphere suitable for teaching learning process. fourth self-perception, self-perception context is perception negative effect on students. last limited exposure English. Limited environment impedes development communicative proficiency. results also found there good which applied anxiety. preparation before English, it helped feel better because had material could use learning. strategy positive thinking. Positive thinking as psychological needed cope lose being classroom. peer seeking. often done liked ask friend did not understand
